Italian Exchange Program Continues to Thrive
Italian Exchange Program

Pascack Valley students enrolled in 4 Honors and AP Italian classes hosted the first part of the 2017-2018 Italian-American Student Exchange with Liceo Leonardo DaVinci (Treviso). The program – lead by Barbara Borghi (Pascack Valley) and Patrizia Casoni (DaVinci) – engages students in academic, cultural, and technological endeavors across two continents. This year, students participating in the exchange had the opportunity to complete a project in collaboration with the University of Bruxelles. Under the expert guidance of Pascack Valley’s science teacher William Koenig, students measured the local value of the Earth Magnetic Field, or, rather, its horizontal component with the objective of obtaining “a sufficiently precise measurement to allow for a significant comparison with other groups world-wide.” Pascack Valley students will be travelling to Treviso, Italy in May to complete the year long program. While in Italy, students will present a collaborative capstone project based on the shared experience. The presentation will be held in the presence of local authorities and will be evaluated by university professors during “scuola in villa,” a major academic event.
