Student Assistance Program

STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The student assistance program provides a comprehensive model to address prevention, intervention and support services for students, staff and family members in the Pascack Valley Regional High School district. The program is designed to provide services that will reduce student risk factors, promote protective factors and increase healthy lifestyle choices for all community members.

The program provides a safe place for students to discuss any problem(s) they may be experiencing. Discussions are confidential and will not become part of the student’s school record.  Students are encouraged to use the program for help with family problems, emotional concerns, alcohol or other drug abuse, eating disorders or any type of personal problem. Students utilize the program for themselves, their friends or concerns they may have about family members.

The following components are offered through the Student Assistance Program:

  • Prevention and Education
  • Intervention and Referral Services
  • Student Support Services
  • Substance Abuse Needs Assessment
  • Policy and Staff Development
  • Parenting Education
  • Violence Prevention Programs
  • Peer Education Programs
  • Community Outreach
