Pascack Valley High School Honors Studio Art II students, taught by Mrs. Stephanie DiGiacopo, learned about the ancient Ukrainian form of folk art of Pysanky Eggs during a visit by guest Pysanky Artist Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo.

The design of a Pysanka egg features intricate geometric symbols and patterns drawn on the egg using beeswax, candles, and a tool called a “kistka.” The egg is then colored by applying a series of dyes.

Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo is an award-winning Pysanky artist. In 2004, one of Ms. Wiszuk-DeAngelo’s eggs was chosen to represent New Jersey in the permanent collection at the White House.
