Over the past several months, World Language students have engaged in different assessments to demonstrate their high level of proficiency and language accuracy.

Recently, twelve students from the Pascack Valley Italian program demonstrated outstanding performances in the National Italian Examination. With the assistance of their teacher, Mrs. Barbara Borghi, students achieved nine gold awards and three silver awards.

The National Italian High School Examination assesses language learning, skills and language curricula. This examination rewards students for excellence in the Italian language with their language competence in reading, listening, grammar knowledge, pragmatic competence, and sociolinguistic competence.

The American Association of Teachers of Italian shared, “The outstanding performance of these Italian learners in our national competition brings honor to their school, their district, and their Italian program. The AATI values highly the tremendous work of these students and their dedicated teachers.”

Students will receive academic medals and certificates from the American Association of Teachers of Italian. Additionally, the gold medal recipients will receive a monetary prize. They will be recognized at the upcoming Board of Education meeting on Monday, June 4, 2018.

Congratulations to Mrs. Borghi and her students on this outstanding accomplishment!
