The Pascack Valley Regional High School District is excited to announce that the Early Childhood & Family Education’s Preschool registration is now open.
The Family & Consumer Science Preschool laboratory is a unique educational program where Certified and experienced Family & Consumer Science teachers instruct the Preschoolers alongside the high school students. This program provides a varied learning environment for preschoolers with an opportunity for teenagers to learn about child development along with early childhood education through practical experience. The high school students interact with preschool children in order to apply what they have learned. In this unique program, preschoolers and high school students are truly working and learning together.
The program’s major goal is socialization for our children as well as for them to have successful school experiences before kindergarten. The preschoolers are provided with daily opportunities to socialize with other children in both free play and regularly scheduled creative activities that are planned, prepared, and conducted by both a certified teacher and high school students. Activities will include arts-n-crafts, pre-math, phonemic awareness, storytime, literature, dramatic/creative play, science, social studies, music, gross and fine motor activities along with outdoor play.
The preschool laboratory will be held at both Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills High School. The preschool is conducted in a pleasant, well-lighted, ground-floor room in the High School, with easy access to the front and side exits. The room is equipped with child-size tables, chairs, play equipment, an outside play area, and bathroom facilities. The Preschool will be conducted from October through May. It will be held in the morning on Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:15 AM to 10:45 AM. It is the parents’ responsibility to drop off and pick up their child each day. The students and teachers will greet each child and accompany him or her to our classroom. This procedure will be followed at the end of school.
The Preschool follows the H.S. school calendar. If the high school has a half-day, then Preschool will too. When the high school is not in session, the preschool is not in session.
The important requirements are:

Your child must be 3 years old before October 1, 2024

All students must reside within the Pascack Valley Regional High School District (Hillsdale, River Vale, Montvale, or Woodcliff Lake)

All children must be FULLY toilet trained (can dress/undress and clean themselves, independently use and communicate the need to use the bathroom) are eligible for the program. No pull-ups/diapers will be permitted.
