Pascack Valley High School Theatre will present Disney’s High School Musical for their spring musical March 14-16.

Based on the popular 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie, Disney’s High School Musical follows a group of teens as they face the excitement and challenges of defying expectations and pushing boundaries. When auditions for East High’s winter musical are announced, everyone expects Sharpay and Ryan Evans (sophomores Anna Stern and James Campenot of River Vale), twin leaders of the school drama club, to take the starring roles as always. Director Ms. Darbus (senior Brianna Finch of River Vale) is astonished and delighted to discover, however, that basketball team captain Troy Bolton (sophomore Erik Martin of River Vale) and brainy new girl Gabriella Montez (sophomore Olivia Carpenter of Hillsdale) are secretly terrific singers. At first, no one is comfortable with Troy and Gabriella branching out from their respective cliques – especially Troy’s basketball coach, who also happens to be his dad (sophomore Matt Kovacs of Hillsdale)! Soon, though, Gabriella and Troy show the whole school how to break free of the status quo and reach for the stars. The cast also includes senior Wendy Muska of River Vale as student composer Kelsi Nielsen, sophomore Maya Teckwani of Hillsdale and freshman Abby Campbell of River Vale as Gabriella’s brainiac friends Taylor and Martha, and sophomore Christian Woessner of Hillsdale and senior Matt DeSouza of River Vale as Troy’s teammates Chad and Zeke.

Public performances are scheduled on Thursday, March 14 at 7pm, Friday, March 15 at 7pm, and Saturday, March 16 at 1pm & 7pm.

Students in grades 4-8 can register for a special workshop taking place with the cast and creative team before the Saturday matinee performance. For a $50 fee, participants will get a backstage tour and meet-and-greet with the actors, learn music and choreography from the show with the PV Theatre staff, be served a pizza lunch, and perform part of the show's finale as part of attending the 1PM performance.

There is a free matinee performance for senior citizens on Monday, March 11 at 9:30am; no reservations are required.

Tickets are $21 for adults & $13 for students, and are available for advance purchase at www.pvhstheatre.org or at the door one hour prior to each performance. All seats are reserved. Pascack Valley High School is located at 200 Piermont Ave, Hillsdale.
