The Pascack Valley Student Publication won 42 state awards, including first-place honors in 20 categories, as announced by the Garden State Scholastic Press Association (GSSPA). The organization announced award winners on Nov. 9 & 10 via Instagram Live sessions.

Contest submissions in 26 categories were made over the summer and reflect last school year’s content.

The judge in the News Writing category couldn’t decide between three particular submissions from the publication’s heavily awarded “What’s in a Name?” package about the school’s mascot controversies, so she chose to rate all three in a first-place tie.

Senior Matt Austin continues to rack up photography awards, taking first and second places in both the Photography and the Online Photo Gallery categories.

The PVSP placed No. 2 among online student publications, ending its four-year reign atop the Overall Excellence rankings.

The full list of winners can be found at the GSSPA’s website. The list of PV Student Publication first-place winners is below.
