Twenty-four Pascack Valley High School students who will be inducted into this prestigious society are charismatic, musically proficient, and dedicated members of the school’s Award-winning Chamber Choir or the Marching Band. In addition, these students are actively involved in the music community both in-school and out-of-school, and several of them are members of prestigious Bergen County, Regional, All-Eastern, and All-State Choir, as well as Honors Band and Orchestras. The Pascack Valley High School chapter #5873 was established back in 2008 by the school’s choir director, Mrs. Argine Safari, who later also started the Pascack Hills chapter #6269, in 2011. Mrs. Safari has been the advisor of Pascack Valley’s society for the past 10 years.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society has been extremely busy this year. In addition to the rigorous application process which included an audition, inductees were required to fulfill certain hours of community service as well as complete performing requirements in order to renew their membership or be inducted into the society. From raising money for charities through events such as Talent night, Coffeehouse, car wash and bake sales, promoting the school’s music program in the community’s elementary and middle schools, to performing for Tempo! Music Therapy to enrich lives of autistic people through the arts, Music Honor Society students have been fulfilling the mission of the society of serving their society through the arts. Also on the calendar is a holiday concert in the local mall (Saturday, December 15) and a program of patriotic and holiday music for the senior citizens at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home (Sunday, December 16). Through performance and community service, these students spread awareness and appreciation of the arts in our schools and in our communities, share the power of music to change our lives for the better.

The society’s advisor, Mrs. Safari, shared that these students are truly making a difference. “By giving back to the community through performance and community service, these students develop confidence, compassion, leadership, commitment, and creativity - invaluable qualities that are crucial in today’s competitive world,” Mrs. Safari commented.
