The Pascack Valley High School Model UN team recently competed in the 31st Annual High School Model United Nations Conference held at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ. A simulation of the UN General Assembly, Model UN allows students to assume the role of Ambassador of an assigned county to debate current issues. Two PVHS sophomores, Richard Tracz and Allison Varghese, earned Most Improved Delegate Awards at the conclusion of the Conference.

The PVHS Model UN Team, representing Mexico and South Africa, sent its largest delegation in recent years with 15 students participating at the Conference.  Members of the Model UN Club plan to tour the United Nations in New York in May and look to continue to build on this year’s successes at future conferences.

Saint Peter’s Model United Nations is a two-day commuter Model United Nations Conference for high school students. The conference is coordinated and led by Saint Peter’s University students from its award-winning SPU MUN Team.

Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, and global health.
